The build phase of the new 50kWe prototype high efficiency Hot Air Turbine, designed for concentrated solar applications is now nearing completion. It features two main advances:
- A second high pressure stage turbocharger enabling the heat exchanger pressure to be raised from 5 bar to 7 bar, substantially increasing efficiency
- A low pressure drop intercooler, increasing air mass flows and output power
